Latino Restaurants in Crisis

Written by Arelia on . Posted in .

Latino and minority-owned restaurants are in an economic downturn since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of the mandatory restaurant closures, vaccine mandates, disparity in occupancy, covid emergency regulations, and lack of financial support for restaurant owners, the industry is struggling.

Our restaurants need help. One side of New York City is flourishing while restaurants in our underserved communities struggle for daily existence. We need funding, policy changes, and governmental help.

The Covid Brew that was created throughout the pandemic with different economic stressors on restaurant owners and their families is starting to “bubble over.” Restaurants are empty, employees are scarce and our owners are undergoing traumas unimaginable. We need help NOW!
